Why "Open Source" Yoga ?
- Everybody can edit any page and (almost) all information can be deleted, (and put back) by anyone.
The pages on this website represent nothing but
discussion - that may (one day) lead to some form of
consensus. Because it's much easier to just delete nonsense, spam and trivia than to get caught up in it. What remains becomes naturally meaningful over time.
At first, this sounds like a recipe for some of the lowest form of interaction the internet has to offer, as it will get hit by the
masses as often as any other site. But to make any sort of
impact a
substantial amount of content has to be generated. So, anyone
can post, but only the most well-meaning contributors will have the determination to keep contributing.
But, equally it doesn't appeal to people who generally don't participate in discussion and collaboration about yoga, (or those that do not actively engage themselves in the world around them). So, if it doesn't appeal, they don't participate, which leaves those of us who are interested to get on with it.
- It is not another internet craze.
People have all the time to think, often days or weeks, before they follow up on some topic or page. So what people write is usually better considered.
